These mixed seed crackers are one of my all time favourite candida diet snacks! They are perfect for on-the-go, and for scooping up a delicious dip.

Made with a blend of mixed seeds - chia, sesame, sunflower, pumpkin and hemp seeds - these crackers are packed with nutrients and are completely oil-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free. They're also super crunchy and addictively delicious.

💕 Why You'll Love These Crackers

When it comes to snacks, we all have our preferences. For me, I just love to crunch! There's something so satisfying about a crispy crunchy texture, especially when it comes to snacks. These seeded crackers are baked to perfection and have a satisfying crunch that will leave you wanting more. I will happily munch on these crackers between meals, but they also make a great side for dishes that need to be scooped - such as my Fresh Tomato Salsa for example.

As if the taste wasn't reason enough to love these crackers, they're also a great source of fibre and protein, so you can feel good about snacking on them. The roasted seeds will also make your home smell like fresh baked bread - heaven! Whether you're looking for a healthy snack to eat on the go or something to munch on at home, these Super Crunchy Seed Crackers are sure to hit the spot.

🥣 Instructions

This recipe is incredibly easy to make and only takes a few minutes to prepare. Simply combine the ingredients in a bowl and leave to soak.

Seed Cracker Ingredients

Then, spread out onto a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and use a knife or cookie cutter to score the mixture into cracker-sized pieces.

Chia Seed Crackers

Make sure that the mixture is spread out thinly and evenly.

Seed Cracker Batter

Bake the crackers low and slow in a preheated oven for just over an hour, or until deliciously crisp. Enjoy as is, or top with your favourite spread, hummus, or sliced avocado.

✨ Seeds for Your Crackers

These crackers are made with a blend of different seeds which are bound together using chia seeds and water. My favourite seed blends are made up of pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, flax and hemp, but you can use whichever seeds you have on hand. The most essential ingredient is the chia seeds as this is what holds the rest of the seeds together. After this, the key is to use some smaller seeds such as sesame or hemp combined with larger seeds such as pumpkin to make it easier for the seeds to hold together.

The seeds alone will give a delicious farmhouse flavour to the crackers, so they need little more than a bit of added salt to taste delicious. However, feel free to let your creativity run free by adding some of your favourite flavour combinations such as cracked black pepper, dried herbs, or spices.

✨ The Secret to The Perfect Crunch

Want to know the secret to perfectly crunchy seed crackers? It's all in the baking. Firstly, you need to make sure that the mixture is spread perfectly even on the baking sheet. This is so that all of the crackers cook at the same rate resulting in the same amount of crunch. What you don't want are some thick chewy crackers and some burnt crumply pieces!

Secondly, by cooking the crackers on a slightly lower temperature but for longer, they are less likely to burn which would cause a bitter flavour. I know the cooking time is on the longer side, but it will be worth the wait I promise!

🍽 Serving Suggestions

Super crunchy seed crackers are a great snack on their own, but they're also delicious with a variety of toppings. Here are a few of my favourite ways to enjoy them:

  • With avocado and tomato for a healthy and filling snack
  • Plus add a couple of poached eggs to turn it into a speedy lunch
  • With hummus or other dips for a tasty and easy appetizer - I love pairing mine with my chunky guacamole recipe
  • With cheese and charcuterie for a fun and festive party platter
  • With almond butter or homemade sugar-free nutella for a slightly sweeter treat

No matter how you choose to enjoy them, I know you'll love these super crunchy seed crackers!

Ingredients

  • 75 g chia seeds
  • 75 g sunflower seeds
  • 75 g pumpkin seeds
  • 50 g hemp seeds
  • 235 ml room temperature water
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Pre-heat your oven to 150°C/302°F.
  • Combine all of the seeds, as well as the salt and pepper to a bowl and stir while adding in the water.
  • Leave to stand for 5 minutes, the water should be completely absorbed.
  • Spread the mixture evenly onto a baking sheet lined with baking parchment to about ½cm of thickness. It is really important that you get the mixture as even as possible so that the crackers cook consistently. If the mixture is spread too thick in parts, some of the crackers will remain slightly chewy, and too thin and your cracker will not stand up to the dips!
  • Use a cookie cutter, pizza cutter or knife to cut squares into the mixture, that will then form your cracker shapes.
  • Bake the mixture in the pre-heated oven for the first 35 minutes, flip over and the bake for the final 25-35 minutes.
  • You will know the cooking time is nearly done when your home begins to smell of beautiful fresh granary bread.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Serve with your favourite dips or crumble on top of a salad.

Notes

Top tip 1: Don't waste the crumbs in the baking tray that did not make it to cracker size, these are delicious topped on your salads or bakes for some extra crunch.
Top tip 2: If you're using a cookie cutter, carefully press any excess mixture into the mould so that you can have more cracker shapes!
Top tip 3: If your cracker start to get a bit soft when stored, simply refresh them for a few minutes under the grill to get that crunch back!

Yum! I finally made these (after having the ingredients for months) and they are delicious! I tried them with brie, guacamole, and with just salsa! They taste great on their own too. The taste is healthy and light. I'll definitely be making them again!
