Are you wondering what to drink on a Candida Diet? Then this post is for you! I have put together a roundup of the twelve top drinks you can enjoy whilst on the diet.
Elimination diets such as the anti-candida diet are always about what you can't have. So to counter this, I have put together a list of all of the things you CAN drink while on this diet.
The below drinks have been included to help to give you some ideas of how you can substitute your usual rituals, but also because they are all super healthy and will support your immunity as your body fights the candida.

1 Pau D'arco Tea
This tea, which is derived from the bark of a tree, is suggested to help to cure candida overgrowth. This is thanks to the anti-inflammatory and possibly even anti-microbial properties.
The taste of the tea is quite smooth and pleasant.
2 Herbal Teas
You can include a variety of herbal teas such as nettle, mint, chamomile and ginger tea. It's good to have a variety of options to choose from so that you won't get bored.
Just be sure to steer clear of fruit teas which contain sugar.
3 Chicory Coffee
If you are a caffeine addict, this stuff is perfect to help you to transition away from drinking coffee. Chicory coffee is made from dried chicory root, which is a plant.
It looks like coffee and you can also add plant milk to further the illusion so it makes a great placebo for the real thing.
Although it doesn't taste like coffee, the toasted flavour is still pleasant enough to trick your brain somewhat. Best of all, it's 100% natural, and there is even some evidence to suggest that it might help to fight candida.
4 Bone or Vegetable Broth
Bone broth in particular is an essential part of the Candida diet, as it contains compounds such as collagen which help to heal your gut lining.
If you don't eat meat, however, vegetable broth is also a great little miracle potion as you are basically just sipping on a cup full of vitamins and minerals.
5 Soup
I know most people might regard soup as a food not a drink, but unless it contains huge chunks of meat, or rice, or noodles, then to me it's basically just a drink!
Regardless, warm, blended soups are a great addition to the diet and will help to soothe and heal your intestine, especially if you pile in the anti-inflammatory foods such as green leafy veg, cumin and turmeric.
6 Green Smoothies
Green smoothies are a great way to squeeze in some concentrated nutrition for those days where you don't have the motivation to make healthy salad or steam up some veggies for your lunch.
Simply blend together high water content vegetables such as celery, cucumber or courgette with green leaves such as spinach, rocket or fresh herbs for a super-food kick.
Although it takes a while to get used to the lack of sweetness, you definitely will feel refreshed after drinking one. I like to add spirulina to mine, as an added candida-fighting bonus, and ginger for it's anti-inflammatory benefits and a bit more flavour.
7 Sugar Free Hot Chocolate
This can be your almost-sweet-treat for those days where you need something a bit more comforting.
In fact, I have a recipe for the perfect sugar-free candida diet friendly hot chocolate right here.
8 Lemon or Lime Water
Adding the juice of a lemon or lime to a glass of warm water and drinking it in the morning on an empty stomach is a great way to stimulate your digestive system.
You could even add some fresh herbs such as mint for added flavour.
9 Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
Cranberries are a well known natural remedy for fighting infections such as UTIs. Therefore, if recurrent infections are one of your candida symptoms, then drinking unsweetened cranberry juice may help alleviate your symptoms.
Just be sure to steer clear of the sweetened juice drinks as well as juices made from concentrate. If you find the flavour too intense on its own, dilute in water or sparkling water.
10 Sparkling Water
If you are out on the town with friends and trying to blend in with the alcohol drinkers, this is your go-to solution. Add a slice of lime, lime or cucumber, or some berries if you're feeling extra fancy.
11 Plant Milk
There are a number of plant milks you can drink in place of traditional dairy milk. On the candida diet; coconut, hemp, macadamia, almond and oat are all good options. Just be sure to avoid milk without added sweeteners, preservatives and emulsifiers, if possible.
In fact, I have a couple of posts dedicated to making your own plant milk:

12 Water
I know this one may be obvious, but you should be drinking at least 2 litres of water every day. It's not just about staying hydrated, but also helping your body to excrete all of the toxins it is working so hard to clear your body of, during a candida cleanse.
